Business Ethics

I am not much of a business man but i had to read few books written by James C.Collins, Jerry I.Porras and other simmilar books in order to understand the basics of the business enviornments and what it takes to establish a reliable, stable and lasting business.

Everytime i read such books the one flow i see with the businesses in ethiopia, particularly in Addis, is the lack of ethics in their business. They either lack a fixed ethical vision or they try to embed it later after the business is a already established. For this reason almost all of the businesses in Ethiopia only last as long as their owners last.

One of the major contributing factors for this kind of thinking is, i believe, the fact that we are poor economically. We tend to focus more on todays worth and not the future. Many of the businesses in Addis focus on generating quick and easy money instead of a lasting income which will take, in many cases, longer period to establish.

I believe that if a person can find the way to make easy money in a short period of time s/he should, but not at the expense of the countries business climate and future.
